An Experience We Will Never Forget

A nearly five-hour drive from the nearest airport, we did not know what to expect. However, Universitas Nuru Huda in OKU, Sumatra, showed us unparalleled hospitality and a passion for teaching like we had never seen before. We were welcomed by a traditional group of performers who escorted us to the workshop venue. At the venue, hundreds of participants waved and carried our photos. Despite the tight space and hot weather, the participants—a diverse mix of lecturers, public school teachers, and students—never showed signs of hesitation. As always at our workshops, participants sang, collaborated with colleagues, and shared their stories. We will never forget our experience in OKU.
